I have a new Friend - Retatrutide - Week 2 - Day 2
Retatrutide helped me lose weight but now I have a stomach - Go figure!!!
Wednesday, August 26, 2026
Yep. I am officially under 150 pounds again. YEAHHHHH! Apparently the scale and I have renewed our friendship, and for now we are on speaking terms.
And I have to give some credit to retatrutide. Retatrutide, you saved me. Yes, you did. The food noise is so much quieter, I feel good, I have energy — yep, thank you, glucagon receptor agonist — and I am getting a ridiculous amount of work done. I actually feel like myself again: busy, productive, excited, and moving forward.
And then came the stomach
The only annoying thing right now is the bloating. Yes, I currently have a stomach. A stomach! That was basically the one problem I never had, so naturally I am taking this personally.
Normally I am not used to seeing much of a stomach, and now I keep inspecting it like it has betrayed me. The really annoying part is that bloating is sneaky. My weight is going down, but my stomach can still look bigger from one day to the next, which means my brain immediately opens a full investigation: Is this fat? Water? Gas? Constipation? Loose skin? Did my abdomen secretly start a renovation project overnight?
Probably not.
Bloating can happen from slower digestion, constipation, gas, larger meals, certain foods, sodium, or simply having more food sitting in the digestive tract. And when you are taking a medication that slows gastric emptying, apparently your stomach decides it is in no hurry whatsoever.
Very relaxing for the stomach. Less relaxing for me.
But I am trying to remind myself that bloating, fat, and loose skin are three completely different things, even if the mirror refuses to provide labels. And one suspicious stomach day is definitely not a scientific study.
Otherwise? I feel great
I am energetic, I am working a lot, and the biggest thing is this: I love my life. For a moment, I even forgot about my muscle loss.
So here we are: 148.3 pounds. Energy up. Food noise down. Stomach under investigation. Life good. Restaurant ahead.
Enough worrying.
Let’s get going.
I have a new Friend - Retatrutide - Week 2 - Day 1
As beautiful as the sun is, I still hate the heat!!!

Weight: 149.9 lbs — back under 150! 🎉
Officially back on the right side of 150, and yes, I'm claiming that win.
The Heat Is My Enemy
It was brutally hot today. Hot weather and I don't get along. It makes me tired, lazy, irritable, and a little crazy. Usually, I just want to sit somewhere and complain about it. Sometimes I even get nauseated and dizzy.
And I have no air conditioning. When I moved in, I was told, "You're close to the water. You don't need AC."
Yeah, right. What a lie.
Move-in day came right after we dropped my son off at college, and it was so hot that the dog actually threw up.
My Very Improvised Cooling System
Now I have a system: fans, the swamp cooler, and the door stays open. Luckily, the dog looks intimidating enough that nobody seems eager to walk in uninvited.
Free security system.
But Today Was Different
Besides work, I went walking and kayaking, did strength training and swimming, and then finished with red light therapy and NuFACE.
Full house.
Okay, I probably overdid it.
Did retatrutide have something to do with all that energy? Maybe. I'm not giving it all the credit, but somebody has to take at least a little responsibility.
Shot Number Two
After swimming, I took my second weekly retatrutide shot: 2 mg.
I'm not sure how I feel yet. I was a little hungrier than usual today but still stayed on track, so I'm curious to see what happens over the next few days.
What Helped Me Beat the Heat
Keep the air moving, use the swamp cooler, stay active earlier when possible, stay well hydrated, and accept that some days the goal isn't to love the heat — just to make it manageable.
I'm at work until about 8:00, then home for a dog walk, chicken dinner, and a good movie.
Yep. That's life.
And I'm proud of today.
