Hi, I’m Martina
I’m a scientist, a mother, and a woman who finally admitted that pushing through no longer worked. For years, I ran on autopilot—existing, not really living. I had become the shadow of everyone else’s expectations, quietly fading into the background.
MY Wake-Up Call
The turning point came when I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the woman staring back. Where was the girl full of life, curiosity, and courage? Where were my dreams?
The Moment Everything Changed
What I saw was a 55-year-old woman who was obese, exhausted, and disconnected from any real sense of purpose. Joy, meaning, and possibility had slipped away so gradually that I hadn’t noticed until they were gone.
Then a friend sent me a photo. Seeing myself in it—someone so far from who I once was—shattered the pretense that everything was fine. I realized I had stopped living fully.
Choosing One Thing I Could Control
That moment, I chose one thing I could control: my health. I told myself that if I could feel good in my body again, perhaps the rest could follow.
That single decision changed everything.
Rebuilding My Life
Nearly three years later, I’ve lost 45 pounds, bought my own home, and rebuilt my life one honest step at a time.
But the real transformation was never just physical. It was about reclaiming responsibility for my choices, my habits, and my inner world—and learning how to live as myself again.
How I See the World
With a PhD in Biology, I’ve always approached life like an experiment: curious, analytical, and question-driven.
For decades, I searched for meaning, purpose, and happiness, often without even naming it. That search eventually led me back to my health, back to belief, and, most importantly, back to myself.
MY PATH BACK TO HEALTH
BODY
My journey back to myself began with my health.
Weight loss, GLP-1 treatment, exercise, nutrition, and physical setbacks taught me something important: to listen to my body instead of constantly fighting against it.
SOUL
Healing brought me back to faith, hope, meaning, and purpose—but also to a deeper respect for the power of belief.
Science often treats the placebo effect as something to control for, yet to me it reveals something extraordinary: our expectations, trust, and inner beliefs can influence how we experience healing.
I became fascinated by the space where science, faith, and the human mind meet.
MIND
Changing my body was only the beginning.
I became fascinated by the connection between thoughts, emotions, habits, stress, and the nervous system—and by how much our minds can influence the way we feel and live.
WRITING & THERAPY
Writing became another form of healing.
What began as an emotional journal during a difficult period eventually grew into my fantasy novel, The Kingdom of the Morningstar—a story about darkness and light, freedom, courage, love, and hope.
